Included in the links below is detailed information about the education your child will receive at SCSC:

Lighting a FUSE for student engagement:
In Fuse students will learn all aspects of the traditional English, Maths,
Humanities and Science subject areas.

Too much information is never enough:
There is no denying the fact that teaching methods have been revolutionised by ever-increasing advancements in technology, with the internet,
iPads, and online learning material now standard in Surf Coast Secondary College
classrooms. Alongside this has come a greater need to focus on each student’s
individual needs and learning requirements.

Student Support

Confidential help, advice or referral to specialist advisers can be obtained from our Student Wellbeing Coordinator and Mental Health Practitioners.

The College has an excellent working relationship with various community support organisations, and our Student Wellbeing Coordinator and Mental Health Practitioners are available to make referrals, or to assist with organising referrals for problems that cannot be solved within the College.

All welfare questions are treated with complete confidentiality, and where necessary or requested, interpreters are used so that all those concerned can be involved at all stages.

Saltwater Institute
Elite Surf School & Education Program

Surf Coast Secondary College is the proud host of The Saltwater Institute Program in 2020.

The Saltwater Institute is a five week program that is run in Term 2 for competitive surfers in Years 7, 8 and 9.

This program offers students an alternative and engaging curriculum that will allow them to obtain some strategic academic outcomes that complement their surf training.

Students work every morning with high performance coaches from Surfing Victoria on technique, strategy, strength and conditioning, stretching, equipment refinement and sports psychology.  Head coach Dan Ross has worked with the likes of Julian Wilson, Sally Fitzgibbons and Wiggly Dantes and is a former WQS champion and WCT competitor.

Students then return to Surf Coast Secondary College for an afternoon of classes taught by qualified teachers from the Saltwater Institute that are built around Surfing, Costal Issues and the Surf Industry while still being AusVels compliant.  Maths and Science classes are run by Biolab (www.biolab.vic.edu.au) and use data gathered from the students’ performances.
